We are 8 weeks post op! Things are going fantastic.Nash is finally getting around to being a kid.We still are working on crawling and walking as well as his speech. He's made huge strides(pardon the pun).He has taken steps on his own, albeit very few and not very confident. His big sister has again been so incredible. They truly love each other with all they have. Here's a few pics from Christmas and just all around day to day shenanigans.

A little Christmas cheer

What happens when big sis is in charge of bath time

His "Pirate face"

And the future teacher reading to her first student

Very cool the bond that Nash has with his big sister. Those bonds will be there for a lifetime. So no pictures of a rod in his hands yet? whats going on dad? All kidding aside it is wonderful to hear the news that all is good and he is make such stride.

Looking back on one year ago today. We sat in a small room waiting for the nurses to come get our little man.We had originally been scheduled for surgery at 7:30am. The surgeon came in to let us know we had been pushed back and it became obvious to us then how fortunate we really were.Nash's heart surgery was a very big deal and very scary for us,but we realized there were much worse cases than ours. The surgery went extremely well and according to plan.Nash was now well on his way to feeling better and getting stronger. The days that followed in the hospital continued to humble us.We saw many other families with greater struggles and some that did not have positive outcomes.Today, those images are still very strong in my mind and only help us keep the faith even more.Nash still has a road ahead of him,but he also continues to amaze those who love and care for him.As we look back and we appreciate everything you have done for us and all the prayers sent, please remember those that are still struggling and those that have lost the fight. Please pray for a friend of ours that is in the same surgery room this morning that Nash was in a year ago.I'm not the best at words,so I'll just end this here.Thank you all so very much once again.

The medicine has kicked in and they were about to take him back.

First time we saw him after the surgery

And now,full of energy

Blessings abound!!!

We had scheduled follow up appt with cardiologist today. This is six months after last appt.We have been a little nervous just thinking about what we may hear from doc.Last few times,he gave us the low down on his mitral valve and we were headed in the wrong direction. It appeared we would be facing another surgery in a few years to replace the valve.I've told every doctor that has evaluated Nash to be honest and upfront as possible with us.We have been on such a high with Nash and his progress, that we really didn't want bad news.Well, prayers have once again been answered.Nash has once again surprised the doctors.I truly believe his doctor was amazed today. He even brought in his resident to see Nash. The valve and heart have continued to grow and pump even more efficiently than ever. The doctor halted all medication for Nash as they are no longer needed. He firmly believes this trend in growth will continue throughout Nash's development. We are all overwhelmed with joy, even though we've secretly known all along that Nash is special and God has his plan for him.

Just thought I would give a quick update.Nash has been doing great. He goes to therapy 4 times a week and has made huge strides as of late.I really think he's starting to put it all together and he's beginning to act his age.The terrible twos show up from time to time but he's a great kid. He's without a doubt a creature of habit and set in his ways.He loves routine and doesn't like to stray too far from that.He loves for you to interact with and ask him a lot of questions. He loves to read and play the Nook.He always points and wants you to sit beside him.He continues to amaze us with his progress and health. We all know how special he is and are excited about all the things in store for him.Thank you all for your continued prayers and support.
